All about the SeatShield

What makes the SeatShield different?

The SeatShield uses a patented design and special fabrics to make it waterproof and very odor-resistant, as well as quick and easy to use. SeatShields are soft and comfortable so they feel good when you sit on them in your running shorts, tennis attire or swim suit.

SeatShields are designed to protect your car seats after sports, exercise and outdoor activities. By protecting your car seats from sweat and dirt, you'll keep them nice-looking and odor-free for the life of your vehicle.

How does the SeatShield work?

The SeatShield has a pouch at the top that slips over the headrest and shoulders of the seat to hold it in place. The bottom of the cover is loose, and drapes over the seat. This allows it to fit any vehicle and makes it very quick to place and remove.

The EliteSport SeatShield

Our best SeatShield adds a 'slip-free' backing to the UltraSport material to minimize sliding of the cover on cloth and leather seats. This is particularly useful for people who want to leave the cover on the seat all of the time.

The EliteSport provides our best protection for dogs and pets.

SWEAT THE NUMBER 1 ENEMY

Most people have no idea how much they sweat and how bad sweat is for their car.

Cloth seats soak up sweat like a sponge. Unlike your work out clothes, you can’t put your car seats in the washing machine. Once the sweat gets in the seats, that’s where it’s going to stay.

Leather seats also absorb sweat into their upper layers and especially around the stitching. The salts in sweat are absorbed by the leather which causes cracking and splitting. And the fats in sweat oxidize causing discoloration and fading.

And to make matters worse, the sweat and dirt that soaks into your car seats end up on your clean clothes the next time you get in your car.

A Waterproof SeatShield is the easy way to protect your car seats when you’re wet, dirty or sweaty.

How much does a body sweat?

The body sweats to regulate its temperature, but sweating is also an essential way to eliminate waste products. The body can do a lot of sweating since it contains over 2,000,000 sweat glands.

Here are some examples of how much sweat the body produces.

  • # sleeping -> 1/2 oz per hour
  • # sitting and talking -> 4 oz's per hour
  • # heavy exercise -> 3 quarts per hour

Even a person who never exercises will produce almost 100 gallons of sweat per year.

Fortunately, the Waterproof SeatShield contains a waterproof/breathable barrier that prevents all this sweat from reaching your cloth and leather seats so they stay clean and odor-free.

What's in sweat?

Sweat contains a multitude of not so pleasant compounds: salts, butyric acid, urea, sebum, protein, lactic acid, creatinine, ammonia, and carbohydrates.

And then there is the unfortunate by-product of sweat – odor.

Sweat creates a warm, moist environment that allows bacteria to grow and feed on the contaminants in sweat – which results in a variety of gaggy odors.

It’s no wonder that the sweat that accumulates in cloth and leather seats is the main reason cars stop smelling new.

Fortunately, the Waterproof SeatShield uses a patented combination of hydrophobic, non-absorbent materials that prevent the formation of bacteria – and those gaggy odors.
